Last Monday was the CCWGA’s annual Charity Day and this year it was held at Toukley with the charity being CoastCanCare. The weather on the day was stunning, and the golf course was in good condition considering the amount of rain we have had over the last few months.

The Toukley Ladies did a fantastic job of making the day the success it was, with their Committee doing a lot of work behind the scenes. Alison and Lucy Caswell baked some delicious cakes and slices for a cake stall, Alison had a fruit stall for those who wanted to stay more healthy, and Gail Wills had bags of lollies to keep our sugar levels up while playing golf. The Sausage Sizzle was a hit with Allan Andrews, Tony Wills, and David George bbq-ing, and the sausages were made even better by Rick Denniss’s secret onion recipe. Ken Roberts donated all of the bread. Thank you also to Lisa Phillips who was the “starter” and did a great job.

Then there were the very brave ladies who volunteered to have their heads shaved to raise money for the charity. Yvonne Boardman and Gail Gear quietly sat in the “barber’s chairs” while Alison Caswell shaved their hair off. Alison started nervously as her previous experience was only with her husband’s hair, but did a great job leaving all skin intact. Well done Yvonne and Gail!

On the day, the Toukley ladies raised $2,000 and that doesn’t include some additional sponsorship for Yvonne and Gail. This is fantastic. Thank you also to all the lady golfers who played in the Charity Day and who “dug deep” to support the charity.

Well done Toukley. A memorable day.
