CCDGA's Annual General Meeting was conducted on 11 March 2013 and after 15years Tony Lamaro stood down as Captain and is looking forward to playing more golf and spending time with his family.
Tony has enjoyed a distinguished career in golf, firstly as a player where he attained State representative status and more recently as an administrator. Even today Tony, who is in his mid 70s, still plays a masterful game and the only thing that has stopped him from playing representative golf in recent times has been the prodigious length of the younger players these days. Whilst still competing at the highest level Tony developed an interest in the administration of the game and has held the role of President and Captain at clubs both in Sydney and on the Coast. Tony is a Life Member of the Association and is sure to maintain an interest in golf on the Coast such is his love of the game.
Tony has been replaced in the Captain's role by well known and liked Steve Fallon. Steve is a past Captain of Mangrove Mountain and has been the District Junior Development Officer for the past 4 years, a role that he intends to continue with in conjunction with his role of Captain.
At the meeting David Willett of the Toukley Golf Club was awarded Life Membership of the Association for his long and dedicated service to the District as a representative player. Dave, who is quickly approaching Masters status (over 50), first played for the Association as a junior and has been a regular member of District squads ever since. Dave is the first to be awarded Life Membership based on playing records and should be very proud of attaining his award at such a young age. Congratulations Dave and may your career continue for many years to come.
