Although not impacted by Covid19 as was the case in 2020, the 2021 Pennant series was interrupted severely by the floods in March which rendered a few course totally unplayable, others playable, albeit over adjusted layouts, with some very wet areas and for the few lucky clubs built almost entirely on sand almost no interruption at all.
When the rain finally ended there remained almost 3 complete rounds to be played and with time sheets already booked fairly solidly finding time on the sheets became a priority for the clubs scheduled to host the rained out matches.
With the assistance of the Clubs involved we were able to find dates between 18 April and 6 June and although not sequentially correct the remaining rounds have been completed with the last of the rained out contests played at Mangrove Mt on Sunday 6 June.
In the final contest Everglades "A" grade side had a must win match up against Kooindah Waters to overtake Shelly Beach sitting on 22 contest points and 43 matches. Everglades responded to the challenge taking the contest 4 matches to 3 which raised their contest points to 22 and 44 matches giving them the Pennant by the princely margin of 1 match. Congratulations Everglades on a hard fought series and for winning the "A" Pennant.
Both Everglades and Shelly Beach had 7 wins and 1 draw( against each other) to be undefeated over the series and provided one of the most closely fought series for some time.
The "B" Pennant was secured rather comfortably by Gosford and Everglades also took the "C" Pennant after playing undefeated throughout the year. Congratulations to both Gosford "B" grade and Everglades "C" grade for winning your respective Pennant.
CCDGA extends to all of our Clubs our appreciation for your assistance in arranging tee time in order to have rained out contests played and to all who have represented their Clubs without whom the series cannot be played.
The Sterland Shield, which has been closely guarded by Wyong for the past 3 years, has been won by Everglades. Again congratulations are extended to Everglades as champion club of 2021.
