Sunday 28 July will see CCDGA take on Newcastle DGA at Toronto Golf Club for the treasured Artie Mollett trophy.
The local team has been hard hit by a scheduling clash with the metro Apperly Shield competition and loses Jason Butt (Moore Park), Robbie Hogan and Reece Oliver (Cromer) and also losing Mick Bowditch to illness. Mick is recovering from emergency surgery he had to have immediately after the recent match against Lower North Coast DGA and we wish him well for a speedy recovery.
To fill the gaps in the side the selectors have moved Ethan Forsyth into the Colts team and Pat Joseph makes his debut in that squad. To fill Ethan's spot in the Open squad Greg Watton has come into the side and Russell Bunn and Jack Parker have moved into Masters team.
The number of changes necessary could give the impression that the side has been severely weakened but this is not the case such is the condition of golf on the Coast and the selectors are confident that the team can more than hold their own against the strong Newcastle side and retain the coveted trophy.
