Played annually, the event this year was scheduled to be played at Belmont and only a week beforehand moving the event to Nelson Bay was seriously considered such was the impact of recent inclement weather experienced all up and down the Coast.
Based on the forecast of a week of relatively fine weather, it was decided to go ahead at Belmont and despite consistent heavy rainfall over the Friday evening and Saturday leading into the contest play commenced as scheduled under heavy skies and on wet turf.
Teeing from the 10th tee only 2 groups were able to complete the 11th hole before play needed to be suspended for roughly 45 minutes as the actual hole in the green was under water. Once the rain eased the sand base allowed the course to soak up some of the water and play resumed.
having won the event in both 2022 and 2023 CCDGA was keen to make it 3 in a row and after our Juniors all won their matches the Seniors only need to gain 1 point for us to bring the trophy home again. They did, winning 2.5 matches and the trophy is again in good hands with CCDGA.
