The leading 16 players in the 2018 District Singles Championship qualified to contest the 2019 Anthony Lamaro Match Play Championship and after the preliminary matches District stalwarts, Jamie Stephen and Dave Willett, faced off on Saturday 18 May to determine the Champion for 2019.
Jamie challenged for the title in 2018 losing a close encounter to Lloyd Radcliffe and was determined to go one step further this year.
However, he was up against one of the best exponents of Match Play on the Coast so despite his good result in 2018 and his own extensive experience as a representative player the result could not be taken for granted.
In the end Jamie's desire to capture the title could not be denied and he took the match against Dave to be crowned 2019 Champion.
Congratulations Jamie, commiserations Dave but congratulations on making the final.
