Following the preliminary rounds of the 2014 "A" Pennant, 2013 finalists Toukley and Wyong, squared off for the 2014 title at Kooindah Waters on Sunday 30 March. Despite torrential rain overnight the course, although a little wet in places, provided a great test for both teams.
Both clubs fielded strong line ups but on the day Toukley had just too much ammunition for the Wyong players and claimed the Pennant 5.5 matches to 1.5.
Both clubs were well supported and at times looking back along the fairway it was not hard to imagine that a professional tournament was under way.
The Central Coast Academy of Sport golf squad also hosted the Hunter Academy of Sport at Kooindah the same day and they proved too strong for their northern opponents. It was pleasing to note that there were a number of young female players, particularly in the Hunter squad, and with young players like these kids coming through the ranks the future of golf on the Coast and in the Hunter looks assured.
