With only the final of the 2018 Anthony Lamaro Match Play Championship to be played, James Swanson had one hand on the OOM title and led his nearest competitor, Jamie Stephen, by a margin that suggested that Jamie would need to win the match play if he was to capture the OOM as well.
It is on record that Jamie played against Lloyd Radcliffe in the final at Magenta Shores with the match going 22 holes before a winner could be declared. Both Jamie and Lloyd finished under par for the 22 holes.
Lloyd's win looked to have given the OOM title to James Swanson however the conditions of play for the OOM specify that the points are allocated to the highest ranked registered player in the OOM and as Lloyd did not register and compete in the OOM the points went to Jamie and were just enough to secure him the title.
Congratulations Jamie!!
