The 2012 District Foursomes Championships were held at Shelly Beach Golf Club on Monday 16th July. It was a glorious sunny winter’s day and the course was in superb condition with lightning quick greens.
It was great to see some past champions playing, we had Kaye Garrett from Shelly Beach, a 7 time winner and our inaugural 1987 District Foursomes Champion teaming up with Lyn Howell from Toukley who has the distinction of winning this event 5 times in a row! If you scan the Honour Board you can find these names winning many of our championship events. Always good to see our long time golfers and beginner players challenging themselves in our events.
All clubs were represented but the Shelly Beach players obviously used their local knowledge to dominate the prize winners list. Our Division 1 winners, did tell us at presentation about a quadruple bogey they had which included a shank, a penalty, an air swing all topped off with a 3 putt!!
