After an enforced layoff due to the rat, Covid, our annual inter District season commenced on Sunday 2 May with 12 of our finest travelling to Cypress Lakes to meet our good friends from the Hunter Valley.
The CCDGA team was:
Seniors - Jordan Garner, Dylan Grogan, Blake Nielsen, Keegan Phillips, Jamie Stephens and James Swanson.
Juniors - Kory Botting, Josh Hawkshaw, Noah Miller, Riley Millers, Aaron Neville - Smith and Connor Rigby
The greens had been recently cored and a few eyebrows were raised when putts didn't go where they were expected to go but the conditions were the same for everyone and renovations are an accepted necessary if we are to enjoy good conditions for the major part of the year.
The matches were, as usual, fiercely contested but a lot of fun was also had. Hunter River held the Artie Mollet Shield from the last time we played (2019) and when the dust had settled they retained the Shield as the matches finished HRDGA 6 CCDGA 6.
Congratulations and appreciation is extended to the lads from HRDGA and to our team for the manner (fierce but friendly) in which the matches were played and we look forward to hosting HRDGA in 2022.
The next scheduled inter District challenge is scheduled for 19 / 20 June when we will welcome Newcastle DGA to 2 days of, hopefully, great golfing weather and good golf at The Springs.
